Mixed Martial Arts in the german Media

Since the UFC came with it's show UFC 99 in Cologne, Germany on 13th July there has been many negative media about the sports of Mixed Martial Arts.

Not only do the practitioners and the fans have to defend them and the sport as to not beeing brutal and fighting without any rules until one of them dies, but they also have to fear being banned out of the society by Politicians who just don't know much about it.

There has been many calls to forbid the "Blood sport" of the "human cock fight in the cage" due to no rules, brutality and awakening of the so called lower insticts. It just shows how quick people like to jump on the train of wrong propaganda and use it for their election campaigns, which are by the way in Germany currently running.

There has been many documentaries showing what needed to be shown to upset the common TV viewers and to have their minds made for them.

But the biggest Mixed Martial Arts organisation www.mma-verband.de in the german speaking territories just doesn't want to accept what media has to offer.
Instead they have started creating their own Press Archive of positive news. MMA Archive

Showing that Media doesn't always has to be about sensation Press and influencing readers and viewers oppinions by giving them small and incomplete chunks of Information. It can actually be quite a nice and informing piece of work beeing seen through the eyes of somebody not beeing involved with the sport but willing to read about it and put the pieces together.

People have to fear closing down of their Gym's or shutting down of Events.
It is difficult to find studends willing put a lot of effort in training but now the feeling comes up like those people are doing criminal things.
Some would like to earn their livings by something they simply love to do either beeing a fighter, a trainer or a coach.
What the politicians don't see or simply aren't willing to look at is how big the Sport became in Germany.
There are more than 4000 registered Mixed martial Arts practitioners only at MMA Verband e. V.
Apart from the other members of different MMA Gym's.

But there is a good thing in all of this.
Many of the key players in the german Mixed Martial Arts landscape have decided to pull on the same string and put eventuall differences aside. There is the will of standing up as a big unity and speak up for all of us. Many are stil to join as they recognize beeing stronger as a group and beeing heard when they speak up.

We shall wait and observe...
